Hard Days Night...

Image
Yesterday my husband brought me these roses and some chocolates. It was a long day and night with this little guy... But he is so cute it's hard to be crabby for long... This (lack of sleep, really poopy diapers, feeding every 2 hours) is way better than being pregnant though!!! My wonderful cousin Kelly had a baby shower for me and invited was 3 other preggo mommies. 3 of us have had our babies now! Megan had Henley Cate, Heather had Elsie Jane. Now we are just waiting for cousin Kristi to have baby boy in September. And let's not forget cousin Kelly who is expecting sweet little girl "P" from Thailand sometime this fall. Yay babies!! I really do love being a mommy. Sometimes though I get really crabby and sit and cry when i haven't had any sleep. Poor husband. But today is a new day and the sun is shining and Everett is nothing but smiles and coos. Love. Him. So. Much.

Pillsbury to the Rescue!

Now that the baby is almost 6 weeks old and my hubby is back to work (he's teaching summer school), it's time to start cooking. We had many delivered meals by friends & family that were so sublime. But sooner or later you have to get off the couch and feed your family. Now in a perfect world i would only be making organic, free range, grass fed & natural foods. And for the most part we buy organic fruits and veggies and we try to not buy processed foods. But there are days when I have only a few minutes to quickly throw together a meal. This is where Pillsbury.com comes in. They have this great website with lots of quick and easy recipes and they will even put together a shopping list for you. So far I have made a handful of meals that were quick, easy and pretty tasty. Well this is what I have been doing. Making easy meals and living the dream. My little guy is already a month old. Right now he doesn't do a whole lot but eat, sleep & poop. But sometimes he smiles at me and I know it's not gas! He is a 100% momma's boy, which is fine by me as long as he is still not living in my basement when he is 30. My other baby is pretty cool with the new baby... actually he doesn't care at all about Everett. But he does try to steal the spotlight. meow.

Feeling HOT HOT HOT

Once when I was in California a kid asked me if in Minnesota do we take dog sleds to school year round. He also asked me if we had indoor plumbing too. I guess in California they are taught that Minnesota is a frozen tundra with lots of Hillbillies as residents. Well i am here to prove the world and Californians wrong. Today in Minneapolis it is 102 degrees of pure hot heat. We are currently the HOTTEST city in the country! It feels like my wedding day which was equally as hot. Thankfully our house has air conditioning, sadly our one car does not. And we actually had to go in said car today so I could go to the doctor for a check-up. Poor Everett was a hot sticky mess when we got home!!! Anyway, so Minnesota can be hot, very hot! No sled dogs today!

Birth Story

So here is my story of planning a totally natural, drug free birth that turned into a completely medically intervened labor and how in the end i really am okay with it. Friday morning May 6, i had my ultrasound to measure how big the baby was growing. All along the ultrasounds were saying that he would be a big boy, anywhere from 9 t0 10lbs. So of course when we get there he measured in at 9lbs 4oz. My blood pressure was up and it was decided between the ultrasound doctor and my OB that i should head to the hospital to get things rolling. Now deep in my gut i had a feeling that the baby was not that big, so should have i waited to to let my body do its own thing and go into labor on it's own? Perhaps, but I headed to the hospital instead. As soon as we arrived they got me set up in a labor & delivery room where they planned on giving me Cervidil, in order to get my cervix nice and ripe for delivery. At that point i was only 1/2cen dilated, 75% effaced and the baby had not dro
